It was a cold and raining late-April morning; we cheered, chanted, sang...oh, and we walked, too!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to Buttons and Beaus. Our team has raised over $13,000 for the work of the MS Society! Way to go people! Thanks to the moustache, I have raised just over $700 (and counting!)

A big thanks to Brian Ellis and Canukusa Services Ltd. for a generous donation to this cause that is very dear to my heart.

Happy Thursday!

I decided to wear a tie to work today; I think every little bit of additional professionalism I can muster is necessary for the next few weeks!

I am off to a reception at the Senate tonight for Mount Allison University alumni.

Speaking of MTA, I am going to my 5-year class reunion in mid-May. With several more donations, I could be going back to my class reunion wearing my moustache.

Thanks to Stacey Van Buskirk for sending me off to my second day of work sporting a moustache! Stacey is sponsoring my upper lip for the next few days...much appreciated!

My co-workers responded in one of several different ways to my moustache:
a) some thought I looked pretty good;

William and his moustache went grocery shopping today at their friendly neighbourhood Loblaw's. While he was on his way to pick up some ice cream, he ran into Ottawa Senator, Mike Fisher, drinking a Coke. Mike was very impressed with William's moustache, and agreed to pose for this photo opportunity.

To start the moustache adventure, William and Beth decided to go to the National Arts Centre and watch the Ballet. The Ballet was less than enjoyable for William, but the moustache had a great time.

Wendel Clark

"Captain Crunch"

In recongnition of the Maples Leafs' hard-fought win over the Canadiens tonight, we at Buttons and Beaus show our "props" to a man who bled blue-and-white and wore his Maple Leaf-shaped heart on his sleeve throughout his career. Wendel Clark was for many years the heart-and-soul of the Maple Leafs. Clark always came through for the Leafs: whether it was a hit, a fight or a goal, "Wendy" was the heart and soul of our beloved Leafs.

In addition to being an all-around solid hockey player, Wendel always sported great facial hair. Especially noteworthy was Wendel's handlebar moustache from the early 1990s. As a young teenager, I (William) was impressed to say the least.

I continue to aspire to emulate Clark's play on the ice, and his facial grooming.

I know what you are thinking; "Why do I really want to spend $20 to help out the MS Society and make this William fella wear a mustache?" This is a good question. Well the first part is easily answered, Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world and they need your money. The second part is a little more complicated.

Bill is a man's man. Very prim and proper. Just your typical government economist.

It's obvious that Bill is a good looking man. I mean, you need to be a good looking man to have enough confidence to wear a mustache. But, Bill isn't just a pretty face.

Hulk Hogan

Alright Hulkamaniacs! When I think of men with moustaches that I have "respected", Hulk Hogan comes to mind. During my childhood, the Hulkster embodied many of the characteristics that I continue to strive to emulate: hard work, postitive thinking and great facial hair.

Now that the Hulkster is a bit older, he has really let his moustache become a more prominent aspect of his persona. Technically, he is tending towards having a goatee, but the clean shaven chin clearly keeps Hogan's facial hair a moustache.

So, listen up to the Hulkster and his demandments of all his little Hulkamaniacs: train, say your prayers, eat your vitamins...and donate to keep a moustache on the Willster.

Who Is William MacMinn?

William is a excellent economist with Finance Canada. William likes diversity in his life. Sometimes you can catch him playing, but he still knows a good sonnet when he reads one. William is a hardworker, a big dreamer, and a wonderful friend. (He also aspires to be a rockstar someday)

William is a member of Buttons and Beaus, a team in the Ottawa Supercities Walk For MS.

Bill currently looks like this:

William has decided that in order to raise money for Buttons and Beaus, he will shave off his beloved beard to make a mustache.

So.......It is now official, on April 13th, 2007, William MacMinn will shave off his beard and live with a mustache. For every $20 pledge he recieves on his fundraising page, William will live another day with a mustache. The more donations, the longer the mustache stays for.
